Subclass 190 – Skilled Nominated Visa

Overview

The Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190) is a permanent, points-tested visa for skilled professionals who are nominated by an Australian state or territory government. It is designed for individuals whose skills and work experience match specific local labour market needs.

Applicants are expected to live and work in the nominating state or territory for a minimum of two years after the visa is granted.

 

Key Eligibility Criteria:

  • Be under 45 years of age
  • Have a nominated occupation listed on the MLTSSL or STSOL, and also on the relevant State or Territory Occupation List
  • Obtain a positive skills assessment for the nominated occupation
  • Score at least 60 points independently, and obtain 5 points through state nomination to meet the minimum 65-point requirement
  • Demonstrate Competent English (e.g., IELTS 6.0 in each band)
  • Meet Australian health and character requirements
